Agriturismo in Umbria

With its round loaf shape, the pampepato is of peasant origin and is considered a ?rich? food because in the past the common people used up most of their savings to prepare it. Ingredients: walnuts, raisins, cocoa, honey, almonds, hazelnuts, cooked must, candied fruit, pine nuts, lemon, pepper, Mistr or dry Marsala, coffee, cinnamon, cloves (optional), very little flour (necessary only if the mixture is too liquid), a little sugar, jam (optional). Procedure: The ingredients are mixed together in a mixer or by hand; then the dough is divided by hand into small round loaves which are then baked in the oven. Storage: The fresh product should be stored at a temperature of around 6-8C for 2-3 days at the most.
